Things that could work better
The everyday work that could be smoother: repeated tasks made simpler, information easier to find, clearer handovers and more consistent decisions.
Practical business improvement — advice, delivery and trainingKent, London and the South East
Every business has parts of its work that could be easier, faster or simply done better.
MJS Works helps you find those opportunities, build the improvements with you, and make sure your people know how to run them.
Independent, practical help to improve your business — working closely with small and medium-sized businesses across Kent, London, the South East and remotely.
Where you are now
Every business owner, section manager or team lead has two lists on their minds. The things that could work better day to day. And the things you know could make the business stronger — if there were time and focus to do something about them.
The everyday work that could be smoother: repeated tasks made simpler, information easier to find, clearer handovers and more consistent decisions.
Better customer experience, stronger follow-through, clearer knowledge, more consistent delivery and work you would improve if there were room to do it properly.
MJS Works works through both lists with you — not just recommending the change, but building it, putting it into everyday use and training your people to run it confidently.
A practical place to start
Start with one part of the business that could be easier, clearer or simply done better. We look at how it works now, what needs to stay with your people, and what could be made more dependable or better supported. Then we build the improvement together and make sure your team is confident running it.
Talk through one thingFollow one real piece of work with the people who know it best, including its purpose, decisions, information, tools and handovers.
Make clear what needs to stay with your people, what needs consistency, and where systems or carefully used AI can provide useful support.
Agree the smallest useful change — a redesigned process, a simple tool, a prototype or a system change — then build it with you, or alongside your team if you would rather own it.
Put it into everyday use, train the people who rely on it, leave clear documentation, and stay available while it beds in.
Supporting the work that matters
Every business has work that carries particular value — work that shapes its reputation, its relationships and the reason clients choose it. That work should stay close to the people responsible for it. AI and systems are there to support it: reducing repeat effort, helping people prepare, and making more time and attention available for the work that matters most.
Preparation, finding information, structure, routine work, quality checks and carefully bounded workflow steps.
Judgement, craft, accountability, relationships, creative direction, source integrity and the work that gives the business its distinctive value.
The person you’ll work with
I’m Mike Strange. Over more than twenty years, I have worked across digital products, internal systems, publishing, manufacturing, training, documentation and client delivery. The common thread has been making complex work more understandable, more repeatable and more useful.
MJS Works is my independent practice, helping small and medium-sized businesses make practical improvements to how work gets done. I work closely with you, from early discovery through to recommendations, prototypes, implementation and training.
I am also a director of Ariadne Knowledge Works, which builds and runs knowledge and workflow systems, so my advice is grounded in what building and running a system really takes.
